We talk about Learn by Doing, but our photography lets us show it up close (and from every other angle). All photos should have a light and natural feel, featuring engaged individuals and/or dynamic movement, illustrating our students’ curiosity, skill and teamwork.
Wide photography should feature landscapes and interior spaces unique to the Cal Poly experience, with an engaged individual or group interacting with their surroundings. Outdoor photos should also showcase our great Central Coast weather. Include negative space for type and graphic overlay when possible.
As with wide photography, all detail photography should feature human engagement. Capture active poses with dynamic movement. When possible, show a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Learn by Doing.
Portraits can be captured in individual or group formats, always actively engaged in their environment, or with one another, and rarely looking directly at the camera.
University Marketing offers campus partners access to its photo library via Photoshelter, our digital asset management system. Photoshelter holds thousands of professionally photographed images of Learn by Doing, campus, and important university events refreshed in 2019, and the image library is updated regularly with new photos.
Assets are searchable by division, college or keyword, making it easy to find and share Cal Poly brand resources. Images and assets may be downloaded or emailed directly from the system. Click the link below to access Photoshelter. On the login page, click “University Login,” which will prompt you to sign in to the Cal Poly portal with your Cal Poly username and password.
