Approved typefaces are integral to a consistent identity standard. Anything professionally designed on behalf of the university should utilize these brand typefaces.
Palatino and Avenir are the official brand typefaces. Palatino is included on all PC and Mac computers. Avenir is included on all MAC computers only. Avenir licenses for PC users were purchased by ITS and are available upon request on a first-come, first-served basis. To request Avenir for PC, click on the Technical Service Request single click link in the portal. Select the “New Software Request” tab and search for Avenir in the “Software Title” field. It will populate with “Avenir CE Complete Family Pack in Windows PostScript Format.” Accept the terms and submit. Avenir is typically used for titles, headers and contact information. Avenir has a large family of weights, and any version may be used as long as the design has a clear hierarchy.
Note: Arial is an acceptable alternative if Avenir is not available.
